Mission: What Is Our Focus?

We hope to preserve, advance and share Classic American Modern Dance by building audiences through narrated performances, classes and community outreach programs. Our programs capture the essence and spirit of the visionaries and pioneers such as Isadora Duncan, Loie Fuller, Ruth St. Denis, Ted Shawn, Katherine Dunham, Doris Humphrey, Charles Weidman, Martha Graham. While enriching our viewers with this past, we also present new works for the 21st century.

We are a professional Modern Dance company in residence at Northern Virginia Community College, Alexandria, VA. Kathy Gray, Artistic Director, teaches adult classes at the college and the company performs both informally in studio concerts and twice yearly in the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center on campus. KHGDT is available for performances, master classes and residencies. Our outreach programs include summer camps at area community centers, working with recreation center drama clubs and school and senior center performances.
